The first issue in THE DARKEST HOUR - the Spider-Event of the year! Flash Thompson, the Secret Avenger known as Venom, is back in town for his first run-in with the Superior Spider-Man! Will their first encounter be friendly, or will Flash sense something perilous about Peter Parker's presence?

Doc Ock’s time as Spider-Man seems to be coming to an end, though its felt that way for issues now, and I’m losing my patience. It’s still a good book – Slott still writes a mean Spidey – but he’s pushing the whole “delayed gratification” thing. While everyone’s limits are different, the book is getting to the point where I’m losing excitement for the conclusion as the book continues to drag things out.I can’t say that Slott isn’t ramping up for a big finale, though. Wraith is still on his case, and she’s more pissed than ever, and now Jameson has supposedly found a way to get out from under his thumb. Things are not looking up for the wallcrawler.
Superior Spider-Man is still a good book. I guess I’m just getting bummed because if it had wrapped up sooner, it could’ve gone down as a truly great run and series, instead of dragging and threatening to ruin the magic that it once contained. At the same time, I respect their choice to really stick with the Otto Octavius story instead of making it just a short, what if-esque one-off.
